Tiles that lie between art and utility
Narrative Delft tiles, hand painted in Australia — rooted in 17th-century tradition, subverted with whimsy, every tile painted by hand in our Sydney studio.
Every wall tells a story. Choose yours.

Build a wall in three moves
Start with corner tiles
The quiet field of the wall — classic Delft corners from $18 a tile. Most walls are nine parts corners, one part story.
Add your motifs
Drop in the moments — a teapot, a bee, a lady in a bathtub. Hand-painted motifs from $52, in three colourways.
See it before we paint it
Lay out your exact wall with the Tile Layout Visualiser — it places every tile and counts them for you.
Placed, lived with, and loved
“There's a beauty to the lived-in feel of them — certain brush strokes that catch in the light.”
Every tile is painted by hand, which means no two are ever identical. The variations in glaze and tone aren't flaws — that's rather the point.

See the colours in your own light
Dutch Blue, Potters Green and New England Red shift with the light of a room — morning is never quite the same as afternoon. Hold the real, hand-painted glaze against your wall before you decide.

I love the tiles :) they are beautiful! Especially the personalised ones 🫶.
The teapot, I would have preferred it to be simple as the one I added in my order, without the flower. The cup is ok, it goes with the teapot, but I didn’t like the flower and it’s a long way to return it :) and ask for a simple one.
Thank you so much, once my backsplash is ready, I will send you a photo!
I ordered the sample card because I couldn’t decide between the blues. Having them in my kitchen made the decision a lot easier and I ordered the day the samples arrived.
We ordered samples for a client with a custom art delft tile and couldn’t be any happier, so beautiful! We plan on ordering for the project!
Beautiful hand-crafted tiles. Highly recommended.
Thank you for all your hard work and incredibly speedy replies. The tiles couldn't be more lovely, I am super happy.
Very pleased with the tiles and the service. Thankyou.
Hand-painted tiles, explained
What are hand-painted tiles?
Hand-painted tiles are individual pieces of art: each of our Delft tiles is painted by hand in our Sydney studio, so every piece is distinct. Designs range from floral patterns and animals to fully bespoke motifs — they bring individuality and character to a space, turning walls into canvases that tell a story.
How are hand-painted tiles made?
Our earthenware clay tiles are bisque fired, painted by hand with glaze, then fired again in the kiln — the Majolica technique, which merges the colour with the glaze for intensity and fluidity. The result is a ceramic tile that is heat, scratch and water resistant.
Where can I use hand-painted tiles in my home?
Kitchen splashbacks and bathroom walls are the classics; fireplaces and feature walls are where they sing. They also work as accents within a floor design, or as one-off pieces — hand-painted tiles complement everything from traditional to contemporary interiors.
How do I care for hand-painted tiles?
Mild detergent or vinegar with water, wiped with a soft cloth or sponge — no abrasive cleaners or scrubbers. In high-moisture areas like bathrooms, proper installation and grouting protect against water damage.
